The world won't build your safe space

Reader,

Here's a realization that may shift your approach to 2026.

The world isn't going to provide the environment we need to thrive.

Not the healthcare system that leaves our communities vulnerable. Not the workplaces that tell us to "stay professional" while everything burns. Not the government institutions that were supposed to protect us.

Here's What I Know About Thriving When the World Is On Fire

The high-achieving Black women I work with who are actually thriving? They design their own *mental and emotional ecosystems* that protect their peace, fuel their purpose, and keep them grounded when everything else is spinning out of control.

They don't wait for their workplace to create psychological safety. They build it for themselves.

They don't hope their family will understand their needs. They clearly communicate what they require.

They don't assume their friends will know how to support them. They teach people how to show up for them.

You Can't Control the Chaos, But You Can Control Your Container

Look, I can't change what's happening in Congress or fix immigration enforcement or stop military raids.

Neither can you.

But we *can* decide what kind of environment we're creating for ourselves in the middle of all this.

We can choose the voices we listen to and the energy we absorb.

We can set boundaries that feel uncomfortable but necessary.

It's the most strategic thing you can do if you want to keep leading without losing yourself in the process.

Here's What I'm Doing This Year

I'm creating intentional spaces for Black women in leadership who are tired of navigating this chaos alone.

Real, honest containers where we can talk about what it actually costs to lead right now. Where we can acknowledge the exhaustion without judgment. Where we can build strategies that work for *our* lives, not some corporate playbook that was never designed for us.

Sis, we can't wait for the world to get better before we take care of ourselves!

We have to build what we need *right now*, in the middle of the mess.

If you're ready to stop waiting and start building the environment you need to actually thrive, let's talk.

I'm opening up a few discovery calls for Black women leaders who know they can't keep going the way they've been going. Who are ready to design their 2026 differently.

We'll talk about what thriving actually looks like for you, what's standing in your way, and how to create the environment and community that makes it possible.

Because the world isn't going to hand you what you need.

But that doesn't mean you can't create it yourself.

The Quiet Collapse of Black Studies in Higher Education It began with DEI. Across the country, universities restructured diversity offices. Vice presidents reassigned. Chief Diversity Officers stepped down. Entire teams let go or absorbed into other units. At first, many described it as budget tightening. Political pressure. Administrative reshuffling. But what we are witnessing now suggests something more structural. The target has shifted. Now it is African American Studies. Gender Studies....

Hey Reader, do any of these sound familiar? You are on the phone with your mom, who's confused about her next doctor's appointment. You are trying to stay calm while mentally preparing for your next meeting or deadline. You grab a Snickers at your desk because there is no time for a real lunch. Your stomach is growling. Your energy is crashing. Your migraine is hammering But you keep working. You are cooking dinner while helping with homework, your phone buzzing with work texts, the stove...

Hi Reader, Can I be honest with you? You're tired. Not the kind of tired that sleep fixes. The kind that sits in your bones after years of being the one who holds it all together. The one who figures it out. The one who never gets to say "I don't know what to do" out loud because everyone is looking to you for answers. You've built something impressive. You've pushed through seasons that would have broken other people. And you've done most of it alone. But lately, something feels different....
